Sports at SSN

Great importance is given to pursue excellence in sports in SSN. The college has all the necessary infrastructure for developing growing talents and sports personalities. Good infrastructure is available within the campus to facilitate practice in indoor and outdoor games. There are well-groomed outdoor play fields for Cricket, Football, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics etc. An indoor stadium built on par with International standards is available for games such as Basketball, Badminton, Table tennis and Squash. A well equipped gym for both boys and girls is also available in the same complex. The college has an impressive record of performance in National and International level sporting events. Every year Sports persons are honoured and encouraged with sports quota admissions, cash awards and scholarships. Budding and interested sports persons are spotted early and special training is given to them. With each passing year, SSN has turned out an increasing number of sports personalities. The department of Physical Education functions actively throughout the year from 5.30 am to 7.00 pm. It works under the guidance of the Physical director with the assistance of Physical training instructor.

Sports Quota and Scholarship

Students who have represented the National and International level tournaments for the following games and sports are eligible to apply for the sports quota admissions and sports scholarships. Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Chess, Table tennis, Lawn tennis and squash Racket.

Annual Sports Activities

Participation in Anna University zonal and inter zonal tournaments. Participation in South Zone and All India inter university tournaments. Participation in invitational inter - collegiate tournaments. Participation in Tamil Nadu Inter Engineering Sports (TIES) meet. Conducting the college annual sports day. Organizing the SSN Rolling Trophy.

About SSN Rolling Trophy

The SSN Rolling Trophy was introduced in the year 2003. The tournament was held at state level amongst the Engineering colleges for Basket Ball, Badminton and Table Tennis under men & women's category. Leading colleges in Tamilnadu participated in this tournament. From the 6th SSN Rolling Trophy 2008, the tournament has become a National level tournament in which cricket and Tennis for men have been included. Apart from Rolling Trophies and individual prizes, cash awards have also been introduced for the first time.
