SSN Institutions launches "Road to Lead - Drive Safely" awareness campaign:

SSN Institutions, an initiative of Dr. Shiv Nadar, Founder, HCL Group, in association with Chennai City Traffic Police, inaugurated a "Road to Lead- Drive Safely" awareness campaign on 24th Feb. 2009. Mr. Sunil Kumar, IPS Additional Commissioner of Police Traffic along with Dr. S. Salivahanan, Principal, SSN College of Engineering and Dr K. Kasturi, Dean, SSN College of Engineering, flagged off the awareness drive at the Tidel Park Junction.

The "Road To Lead - Drive Safely" had around 180 SSN students participating over the span of three-days from February 24 - 26, 2009, to educate the public on road safety.

A team of 5 to 10 students acted as traffic wardens in the major junctions starting from the Madhya Kailash junction to Sholinganallur. The junctions include Tidel Park, toll gate and SRB tools, in the Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) from 9.00 - 11.00 a.m. Across these key junctions SSN students held signboards carrying road-safety messages on drunken driving, over-speeding and signal violations, to name a few.

Dr. S. Salivahanan, Principal, SSN Institutions said, "At SSN we believe that students are the agents of change. Our vision is to impart education to students that will help them make a positive difference in the society and the "Road to Lead" programme is a manifestation of our vision. I would like to thank Mr. Sunil Kumar and the Chennai City Traffic Police for their support and encouragement towards this awareness drive."

Speaking at the inauguration Mr. Sunil Kumar, IPS Additional Commissioner of Police Traffic said, "There are a number of lives being lost every year due to various road accidents which stands testimony to the lack of safety awareness among the public. I applaud the students of SSN Institutions for this initiative to educate the public on safe driving.
